In the mornings, the students took part in seminars in Essen, which specifically prepared them for intercultural encounters. They were given valuable tools for successful communication and cooperation in international contexts. In addition, key skills such as self-organization, leadership and presentation techniques were taught, which are crucial for both personal and professional development.
Exciting insights into history and culture
In the afternoons and at weekends, the participants explored the cultural highlights of the region. One of the many excursion destinations was a visit to Villa Hügel, the historic residence of the Krupp family, which offered deep insights into the history and culture of the Ruhr region. The visit to the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the guided tour of the Thyssenkrupp plant also left a lasting impression. Other excursions took the group to Düsseldorf, Cologne, Wuppertal and Oberhausen. A trip to Drachenfels with a view of the Rhine Valley rounded off the varied program.
Festive finale
The Summer Academy concluded with a festive closing event, including the awarding of certificates. Prof. Dr. Axel Müller, Academic Director of GSSBT, gave the participants an insight into the English-language Master's programs. FOM Chancellor Dr. Harald Beschorner also addressed the students: "I hope that you will not only apply the knowledge and experience you have gained in your academic and professional lives, but that you will also cherish the memories of your time in Germany. May the friendships and connections you have made here last a lifetime," he concluded in his speech.
