Careers Centre for international students
Studying at FOM University of Applied Sciences lays the foundations for a successful career. To ensure that a suitable placement or job is successfully found during the degree course, the International Office offers a range of services. For example, the team is happy to help with questions relating to the application process or the employment market in Germany.
Careers advice
Would you like to gain experience in the German employment market, apply for a job or already have an interview lined up? Then the right preparation is the be-all and end-all. Support is offered by the International Office: we check through the application documents with you in advance and prepare you for the process. This helps you take the next step with confidence.
Insights and initial contacts
During your degree course, you will have the opportunity to get to know potential employers in face-to-face discussions as part of company visits and build up a small network. This can be helpful if you are looking for a placement or a practical placement for your dissertation. The International Office will support you with your active search for a position.
Buddy Programme
Arriving in a foreign country can be a challenge, in particular when it comes to questions about cultural values or the practical aspects of life and studies. The buddy programme at the FOM gives you important support from German students offering guidance, clarifying any questions you may still have and being on hand when starting out in Germany.
If you are interested in participating in the Buddy Programme, please contact FOM´s International Office.
Workshops and seminars
We give you the opportunity to take part in various workshops and seminars: What is the German job market like? Which sectors and areas require staff? How do I apply for a job? What business etiquette should I be observing? Further training opportunities include what to watch out for when stepping out into German business life.
Help during your degree course
The International Office recommends that international students take part in a seminar on academic work, literature research, and project and time management so that they become familiar with the academic requirements and expectations. During your master's thesis, you can also exchange information about your interim results and objectives during professional discussions.
