State Recognition
FOM received State recognition by the Ministry of Science and Research of North Rhine-Westphalia in 1993.
Institutional Accreditation
The German Council of Science and Humanities was convinced of the overall concept of the university and accredited FOM in 2004 as the first private university in North Rhine-Westphalia.
System Accreditation
FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation) has examined the quality management system of the university according to the standards of the German Accreditation Council, and it has system-accredited FOM as the first private university in Germany.
Quality Assurance System
As part of the system-accredited quality management, the Evaluation Commission for Study Programs (EKS) assessed the program of the university and ensured Evaluation Commission their quality.
On the independent evaluation platform StudyCheck, the FOM is ranked annually among the top three universities in the category “Universities with more than 15,000 students”. The FOM University of Applied Sciences has been awarded the ‘Excellence in Digital Education’ seal by FIBAA for its outstanding quality in digital teaching. FOM exceeded the quality requirements in 21 of the 23 criteria analysed and was therefore awarded the seal in the ‘Premium’ category. Initiated by a non-profit foundation, FOM University of Applied Sciences has a clear educational mission: to create high-quality and financially viable study programs for working professionals, trainees, high school graduates and international students. Since its foundation, FOM University has maintained close contacts with companies, local authorities and associations. This high level of business and practical relevance plays a key role in the transfer of knowledge. Our more than 2,800 lecturers draw on their own business experience, teach academic theory using practical examples and also incorporate the perspective of working students into their teaching.
